Luxor e Cairo The Beach Resort

The restaurant, bar, and cleaning team were fantastic. Bruno in particular showed real care and attention to detail, and made dining enjoyable. I also have to love the defensive, threatened reply from a 4-star hotel. Very elegant and full of character! The rest of our stay at Luxor e Cairo in Jesolo was disappointing. There were many extra charges: pool beds were 6 euros each, and an umbrella with two beach beds cost 15 euros. We’d mistakenly booked for the wrong number of guests. At check-in, the hotel insisted we either take a junior suite for 55 euros more per day to fit our children or pay an extra fee for them. The suite was only slightly bigger and in another tower, so we declined. They then added 30 euros a day to our original room for “towels, water usage, etc.” After we pushed back, this came down to 20 euros a day, but we still got no extra towels, toiletries, or amenities for the additional guest. For a 4-star hotel, that kind of nickel-and-diming is unacceptable. This was my second visit to Jesolo in two years, and I love the area, but I won't return to this hotel because of the poor attitude and lack of hospitality at check-in. They don't seem to understand guest service.

The grounds were well kept and full of flowers, and the staff were very polite and attentive. The food was tasty and varied, though drinks including water cost extra at lunch and dinner. Sunbeds and umbrellas also had a charge. The hotel is right on the beach. The rooms were clean, if small.

Getting to Venice was easy, just a short bus and ferry ride, which was a must for us. I worried at first about the busy road full of shops and restaurants, but it was convenient and we couldn't hear the noise from the hotel. The hotel is right on the beach, and even with lots of guests it wasn't hard to find a pool bed. A few days by the pool were spoiled by thrown balls, shouting, and toddlers left unattended. A few dads stepped in, but that shouldn't have been their responsibility. Our last day was a letdown because of an older receptionist. I'd asked all week about late checkout, and she simply said no without checking, in a rude and unhelpful way. I was there with a child until 17:30 and was told to use the communal shower by the pool, which has no air conditioning. She charged us for towels even though they were included in our stay. Another couple leaving that day spoke to her and she didn't charge them, and she was completely different with them. We had an amazing holiday otherwise. The younger service staff were lovely, but I found this receptionist dismissive and discriminatory. The hotel has far fewer British visitors than other places, and I can see why. I'd return to the area, but would look for another hotel.

We’re on our eighth and final night, and I hope the owner knows how good the staff are. They're friendly, fun, and professional, and nothing is a problem for them. They've really made our stay. The hotel is fabulous, right on the beach with a beautiful pool as well. Our room is refreshed daily, and flowers surround the bar and terrace. Breakfast is as good as I've had anywhere, with so much choice. We’ll definitely come back.
