Pension Imperia

Elisabeth and Thomas made us feel welcome and looked after us right away. They're such a warm, welcoming couple. We had a lovely three-night stay over New Year's Eve at this small, charming guesthouse. The breakfast buffet had something for everyone, and they topped things up as needed. Eggs from their own happy hens were made fresh to order, and there were homemade jams and pastries. The Swiss roll was excellent. The price for what you get is great, and we highly recommend Pension Imperia :-) Our room was dated but clean and practical, with a balcony and small fridge. The new mattresses were wonderful. One small bathroom issue: the sink is so deep that the gap between it and the door is very tight. I got my belt loop caught on the handle entering once and was briefly stuck :-D

The location worked really well, with both the beach and town centre within walking distance. We booked one double and one triple room for a week, and the price-quality ratio felt right. The owners were kind and helpful. The rooms were cute and comfortable, the beds were good, and we slept well. Air conditioning was a real relief after hot days in the sun. The balcony was a plus too, with a table, chairs, and even clotheslines. If I had one comment, the bathroom could be a little better, but everything else was fine.

We paid for three nights and brought our dogs because we were told they were allowed, though there was a separate charge. We accepted that. On arrival, before even seeing the room, they said they had to give us a bigger one. It was disgusting, smelled terribly musty, and looked nothing like the photos. They complained about the dogs barking from the first day, then made us leave after the first evening even though we had paid for two more nights. They said it was to avoid more arguments. Apparently, to stay we'd have had to keep the dogs locked in the room with us or take them everywhere. On the second day, we did take them out, then left them alone for half an hour while we went to eat. We got a call saying the dogs had left the room, which they'd never done before. This is a long review, but if you accept dogs, you should know what that can involve, or explain your rules clearly and offer another option. Don't make people leave two days before their paid stay ends.

Breakfast at Pension Imperia is plentiful and varied, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and well kept. It's not very close to the beach, but it still seems like a good choice for a relaxing family or couples' holiday, with great service. Recommended.
