The lake and surrounding views from our third-floor room at Hotel Castell in Limone sul Garda were stunning. Breakfast was decent, the breakfast staff were attentive, and the cleaning team were really kind and sympathetic. Those were the best parts of the stay. Rest was hard to come by. The third floor is a busy route to the pool and the exit to the city center, so we heard hallway conversations and footsteps through a door that looked like it belonged in a fireproof corridor. The room felt like a passageway rather than somewhere to relax. The room was very basic and dated, like stepping back into the 80s. There was no mini-fridge, the TV was barely bigger than a laptop screen, and the shower cabin looked old in an uncharming way. Internet was practically unusable. Parking was confusing and very limited, apparently for selected guests, and we had to leave the car in a separate lot almost 1 km away. When we complained about the noise and lack of rest, the young woman at reception came across as unprofessional and seemed more interested in making excuses than finding a solution. For what we paid, we expected a more comfortable stay. The gorgeous view couldn't make up for the rest.

The location was handy, about a 3-5 minute walk to the city center and the pier where the ferries leave. Parking wasn't ideal, though the shuttle to the lot worked well. Every staff member we met was helpful, friendly, and proficient in English. For us, this had the best value for money of the hotels we stayed in during our northern Italy trip in August. Breakfast was great, with fresh fruit and vegetables, several kinds of bread and buns, plus vegetarian and vegan options. The pool was clean and a nice size. The rooms could use significant updating, but the beds were comfortable, and the balcony with stunning lake views was a nice extra. The WiFi was slow and a struggle.

The staff were wonderful and couldn't do enough for us, and the pool was a delight, large enough for swimming with comfy new sunloungers. We loved the spectacular view from our balcony and the fabulous location in Limone. The rooms are basic but perfectly adequate. I'd suggest booking a Superior Room. Service was outstanding, and we'd happily recommend the hotel and its hardworking team.

I don't often leave reviews, but the hospitality from the moment we arrived deserves a mention. They helped with parking, had a breakfast pack ready for the next morning, and even made early morning coffee for me. The location is unreal, the room was clean, and the view was insane. I'd come back 🥰🙏

No kettle or iron, though there is a fridge, and the room is basic. You're paying for the view, which is simply amazing and makes the cost feel justified.
