Hotel Corallo

The main pluses are being close to Lipari’s main street and having a free shuttle to the beach and port. Still, I don’t think the price is fair for what you get, and I strongly advise against staying here. Corallo Hotel hardly feels like a hotel at all, just a plain building serving the nearby Gattopardo Park Hotel. For reception, breakfast, the pool, and other services, you have to cross the street. The rooms are cramped and uncomfortable, with dated furniture and poor lighting. Even the chandelier bulbs need replacing. At night the place felt unsafe: the main door is left open, there’s no reception on site, and nobody is guarding the entrance.

The staff were friendly, and Lipari town center is only a few steps away. Guests can also use the Gattopardo’s lovely, spacious garden and large pool, with a very relaxing atmosphere. The cocktails made by Gianfilippo were excellent. We booked a vacation package through Booking.com and were very pleased with how it turned out. The small building across from Hotel Gattopardo feels more like an annex than a real hotel, since it depends entirely on the nearby property. Its rooms were well kept and cleaned on time each day, but after 4:00 PM there’s no access control and the lobby is unstaffed. Prices for things like restaurant meals and excursions are high.

As an annex across from the Gattopardo Hotel, the Corallo shares that welcoming hotel’s breakfast, pool, and terraces. The main property is very scenic, but the Corallo itself is poorly maintained. Its rooms are small, dark, and badly furnished. Even being generous, I’d only give them a two-star rating.

The staff were really helpful. The hotel is near the center of Lipari, with lovely landscaped grounds and a big swimming pool. The rooms feel a bit dated, though it looks like renovations are underway.
