The location has a lot going for it. San Rocco is about a 10-minute walk away, there’s a bus stop right on the main road, plenty of restaurants and ski rental shops nearby, and a supermarket about seven minutes on foot. The bathroom has been renovated, there’s a ski cellar in the building, and Bar Agatha is just below on the main road. But the building is so poorly insulated that we could hear everything from the neighbors above and below: chairs scraping, cupboard doors, phone calls, the TV, toilet flushing, throat clearing, coughing, and especially children yelling well past 11 pm. Not babies crying, but little kids. In the kitchen it sounded as if the neighbors were in the next room, shouting. After four days of trying to ignore the racket and sleep after exhausting ski days, we contacted the landlord, Marco. He was far from helpful or accommodating. By the end of the call he was abusive and threatened to call the police on my husband. A bad joke. We paid just under €2,000 for the week for an apartment with old appliances, a coffee machine we couldn’t operate, and a broken extractor hood. It was only superficially clean, with lots of dust under the beds, dirty bedside tables and grimy lampshades. The mattresses were so worn out that we woke up with back pain. That price is outrageous. In Livigno, you could get a comfortable mid-range hotel with half board for the same money. My family has gone to Livigno regularly for winter sports for three generations, so we know the standards of holiday apartments there and certainly don’t expect luxury. None of us has had such a bad experience before, especially at such a huge price. What a shame about the good location.
