Hotel Val Carlina has what you need for a relaxing mountain break in Corno alle Scale. It's warm, welcoming, and homey, with spacious, spotless rooms and the essentials to unwind and enjoy the Apennines scenery. There's no luxury, which suited the simple feel of the place. Simona, the owner, is its real asset: she's knowledgeable and exceptionally kind, and her cooking is excellent. Give her cuisine a try, you won't regret it.

The food was excellent, and the breakfast spread was generous despite being simple. Mrs. Simona was happy to help with requests, including the kids'. We found the hotel spotless and the owner really kind and accommodating. It's handy for skiing and right in Vidiciatico, with places like a cinema, bar and pharmacy nearby. The decor feels straight out of the 1970s, but the rooms are practical, with big closets for jackets and tracksuits, TVs, huge showers and a lovely real-wood smell. Corno alle Scale post office is about 15 minutes away.

Dinner worked well for me since they were flexible about my tastes and needs, and breakfast had a good range of options. I was there for a school trip and found my room comfortable, clean and lovely. The family-run hotel is in the center of Vidiciatico, with rooms spread across four floors and a big dining room downstairs. The hostess was so kind and had everything very well organized. I hope I can come back soon.

The Ferragosto lunch was excellent, and there was music out on the terrace until midnight afterward. I spent two weeks here in August with my cat and had a great time. Mrs. Simona and the whole staff were helpful and kind. The place is clean, with a lovely view, and the homemade food was tasty and changed from day to day. I'd recommend it for people of any age.
