Hotel Villa Mary

The location was great, about 200 meters from the sea, and guests can use the swimming pool 100 meters away. There’s also free parking in the hotel’s inner courtyard. I booked a triple room but ended up with what you could call a suite, or at least two connecting rooms with a shared bathroom. I recommend it, with no personal interest in saying so.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Towels were clean and kept tidy, there was parking on site, and we could use the private pool at the associated property. Our room had no balcony or place to dry beach gear, though we could hang things on the top-floor terrace. We had several problems during the stay. The room was dirty and dusty, and there was no air conditioning on the first day. A bathroom pipe burst and flooded the room. They didn’t move us, and it took a second request to get a plumber. After that, there were glass shards all over the bathroom. The cleanup at the end of the day was rough. Meals were chaotic and slow, and hygiene was poor. There was a thumb on a plate, the chef was visible from the kitchen window without a mask, and we found hair in the salad. They also didn’t take food allergies seriously, and these were allergies, not intolerances. We hope we were just unlucky, but based on what happened, we wouldn’t recommend the property.

The restaurant deserves a mention for its excellent, high-quality food. The hotel really lived up to what I expected, and the attention from the staff made me feel right at home. Truly well done.

I first went there when I was just one year old, then stopped going for a while. Coming back has always felt extraordinary. That arcade may not look like much, but it means a lot to me. We used to play and make a mess together, whatever our ages. The owner and star are so friendly and helpful. And Chiara, the waitress, is the best at her job. She puts her whole heart and energy into it, and I miss going to eat there now that I’m home. She knew I ate a lot, and even when my father said no, she’d keep filling my plate. We could joke and talk about anything. She’ll always be in my heart as the best waitress in the world. The chef is great, too. His dishes are simple but really good, and everything is valued. I won’t forget him. I dream of working alongside him. I hope I can return next year. This place is special to me because it brings back the best part of my childhood, and I already miss it.
