Located right in the city centre, from San Francesco everything you'll want to see in Assisi is just a short stroll away, including the main square and the Basilica di Santa Chiara. The hotel has 44 rooms all with private bathrooms, air conditioning, satellite TV, safe, direct telephone, minibar, hairdryer. From some of them you can enjoy the picturesque view of the Basilica of St. Francis and the green plains of the Umbrian Valley. After four nights here, I’m still staying at the hotel, but I feel I’ve seen enough to review it. I’d read complaints about smells and old facilities, which made me hesitate before booking. I’d happily stay again and recommend it to friends and family. There was a smell, yes, but it was like what I noticed around Italy, only a little stronger or weaker. It didn’t bother me. Air fresheners are placed in the hallway too. The facilities are aged, but everything worked as intended, so I was fine with that. If I wanted a fancy luxury stay, I’d pick a five-star place in a big city, but it couldn’t offer what Loreto does, and it would cost five to ten times more. The hotel wasn’t sparkling clean, but it was acceptable, with daily housekeeping that did a better job than I do at home. For what I paid, I got more than I expected: warm hospitality, friendly staff, a great view of the basilica, and an excellent breakfast. Some people say this isn’t a four-star hotel. For me, traveling around medium and small cities, it’s a perfect four-star stay and excellent value for money. I’m also very grateful to the gentleman who let me onto the L4 balcony to see the sunrise at 0520 am.

The view from my window was genuinely great, and the staff were excellent throughout, always helpful and pleasant. The bed was clean and comfortable too. Still, there were a few letdowns: breakfast, especially the scrambled eggs, was cold, the TV was small and dated, and the place felt unusually quiet, with hardly any other guests. On arrival, I noticed a strange smell I couldn’t quite identify. The receptionist’s warm welcome quickly lifted the mood. In room 307, I saw marks on the walls and limescale in the shower cubicle. It was a stay with some good points and some rough edges.

It’s a peaceful spot in lovely woodland grounds, with plenty of outdoor parking, and the view takes in the sanctuary and the distant sea. The hotel is close to the Sanctuary of Loreto and about a 15-minute drive from the nearest beach. For a family of three, the price was very reasonable. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with tea and coffee provided and a small fridge. The bathroom was modern, the shower was excellent, and the ventilation seemed well maintained. Breakfast was served in a bright, spacious, comfortable room, with enough variety for a nice morning meal. The staff were welcoming, helpful, and attentive. The interior is showing its age: the lobby carpet was stained, and the rooms could use fresh paint, especially around the windows. The hotel could use some finish work. Even so, the facilities were adequate and the stay was nice.

We’d gladly come back. Berlusca at reception was professional, helpful, and able to juggle everything, and we really appreciated how much effort she put into making guests happy. The hotel is lovely, with spacious, clean, comfortable rooms and a nice view. Service was wonderful, the food was exceptional, and there’s free parking. The location is great too, within walking distance of Basilica della Santa Casa.

The breakfast was delicious and had a very good range of choices. Service was polite and professional, and the location was outstanding. It’s among the highest-quality places I’ve stayed at anywhere in the world.
