Hotel Villa Casanova

Outside Lucca, the scenery is lovely and the hotel feels like a peaceful getaway from it all. Our room was spacious and luxurious, and service was tidy and well run. We had a wonderful stay. Even in October, the pool was tempting for a cold swim. ;)

The valley views were gorgeous, and everyone on staff was friendly and accommodating. We stayed three nights at Hotel Villa Casanova in a Deluxe Suite with Valley view while checking out wedding venues in Tuscany. The hotel has traditional style, modern facilities, and an elevator that came in handy, and everything was spotless. Breakfast had plenty of tasty continental options, plus eggs and omelettes. We only managed one dinner there, but it was delicious, and we both thought our desserts were among the best we'd had. We'd happily recommend it and would love to return.

The garden and little pool are lovely, and the food was very decent with good service. Rooms are spacious and the hill views are nice if you're not facing the parking lot. The hotel is beautiful, though a bit run down and probably past its best, but it still delivers.

We went back to Hotel Villa Casanova ten years after our first visit, hoping it would still have its charm. It was even better. The former villa is in green hills about a fifteen-minute ride from Luca, with twelve suites, all with a view and some with balconies. The decor is comfortable and lovely, the bathrooms are large, and the beds, sheets, and towels feel luxurious. A small elevator serves all three floors and moves people and luggage quickly. In June, meals were served by the pool, with distant mountain views and gardens all around. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were excellent, as was the service. Staff cleaned the rooms professionally and quietly while we were eating or out in Luca. They were also helpful with directions, and brought snacks and drinks to the pool. There are big gardens to walk through, a tennis court, and interesting books inside that guests can borrow. It feels like staying in a private country villa. After the tourist crowds in Luca, the quiet atmosphere was a perfect place to rest. We can't recommend this small hotel highly enough.
