Hotel San Marco

The hotel is quiet, dog friendly, and has a lift. It’s close to the old city, though the pavement is too narrow to manage easily with bigger luggage, so you need a car. We found plenty of restaurants in the old town since lunch at the hotel wasn’t the best. Breakfast, on the other hand, was delicious. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the room was clean. The bed felt hard to us.

I was there for three nights on a business trip during a 40 degree heatwave, and the hotel felt fresh and cool inside, which was welcome. My room was spacious and comfortable, with a good bathroom and lots of storage. The hotel is just outside Lucca’s walls, a short walk from the centre, with sights and restaurants nearby. The lobby smelled great, and everything was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful, and they prepared my invoice with company details ahead of time, so checkout on the last morning was quick. Breakfast was very good, and having fresh coffee brought to the table was nice. There’s a small pool that looked relaxing, but I didn’t get the chance to try it. I’d definitely return next time I’m in the area.

The staff made our stay at Hotel San Marco especially memorable. Fabio at reception was outstanding, friendly, and helpful. He taught us a few Italian phrases and suggested places to eat inside the walled city. Those spots gave us some of our favorite meals in Lucca. The lady who handled the snack bar and breakfast was just as delightful, always courteous and making mornings feel special. The hotel itself was comfortable and only a short walk from the beautiful walled city. Its swimming pool was a nice extra, perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing.

The railway strike on the day I left could have made continuing my journey stressful, but the staff helped me get on my way. I’m especially grateful for their care. I came for a music festival and had an unforgettable time immersed in the happy, festive atmosphere. My spacious, bright room was spotless, with regular housekeeping and everything I needed. I also enjoyed the pool and on-site restaurant, especially the delicious, varied breakfast. The whole place felt cozy from the start, and the staff were attentive and so friendly, always ready with advice or a helping hand. I left with warm memories and would love to return.
