Right in downtown Lucca, the B&B was surprisingly quiet once inside. Our room had new windows that blocked out all the noise, and we slept better than we ever have in a place so central. It was modern, very clean, and clearly cared for. The bathroom had everything we needed, and there was a little kitchen and a minibar with drinks. The small garden was a lovely spot for breakfast in the sun. The women running the place, around five of them, did a great job and were ready to help with whatever we needed. Breakfast was brilliant, with fresh orange juice and scrambled eggs made with whatever we wanted mixed in. This felt more like a small boutique hotel than a bed and breakfast, and you could feel how much care had gone into it.

The rooms were spacious, air conditioned, clean and quiet, and the crisp, fresh bedding made for a good night’s sleep after long days of hiking and walking. The garden inside the city walls was a real treat. Sitting out there in the evening to read was so calming. The reception ladies were kind and helpful, and their suggestions for meals and sightseeing were worth trying. Booking through the website I happened to find was quick and easy. I booked directly, paid securely by card, and got confirmation right away. They answered our questions almost immediately and looked after us from start to finish. They also emailed and sent parking options by WhatsApp. There’s no parking right beside the accommodation, but we left the car in a guarded public lot and found the all-day price reasonable, about the cost of an Aperol Spritz. Lucca is a lovely choice for the Italian way of life, from morning espresso to long lunches and dinners. It was a very good decision to stay at Lucus Exclusive Bed and Breakfast, though we only had four days there.

For five days, we had the whole hotel to ourselves, with family and friends visiting for a wedding in Lucca. It felt like having our own house in the city. The charming garden gave everyone a lovely place to meet before heading out for sightseeing or wedding events, and the rooms were impeccable. Serena and Alexia made us feel completely at home. They knew everyone in our group and did everything they could to make the stay go well. What a great setup. I highly recommend this lovely hotel.

Our room was beautiful, but small, and being right next to reception meant we didn’t feel we had much privacy. If possible, I’d avoid rooms 1 and 4 and ask for another one. The building is an old mansion that’s been fully renovated, though it still has its old charm, with painted ceilings and little details that bring the Renaissance to mind. This luxury B&B is tucked down a side street about five minutes from St. Michael's Square. It seems like a great place for a peaceful stay.

The staff in reception, the breakfast room, and housekeeping were patient, very helpful, and knew their city well. It’s a great base for a stay. This is a boutique bed and breakfast, just as described. They can serve bottles of wine or an Aperol spritzer in the garden in the afternoon, but there’s no bar or room service.
