San Luca Palace Hotel

We had to throw away our clothes and luggage to avoid bringing the infestation home, and the emotional and financial impact was significant. This was one of the worst hotel stays we've ever had. We stayed at San Luca Hotel in Room 25 from 18-21 July 2025, and the room and the way we were treated appalled us. It was unbearably hot because the air conditioning only blew warm air. The wardrobe light flickered constantly, and the bathroom flooded every time we showered. The old furniture and the whole room felt neglected. We reported the problems straight away to Leonardo at reception. He seemed uninterested and said there were no other rooms, which we later found wasn't true. He disconnected the faulty light, leaving us in darkness near the entrance, while the room stayed like a sauna. A different receptionist later confirmed spare rooms were available and couldn't understand why we hadn't been moved or why the room hadn't been closed. Over the next few days we saw many blood spots on the sheets and woke with bites. On our final morning, live bed bugs were crawling on the sheets and headboard. We believe the extreme heat from the broken air conditioning brought them out more each night, and that the blood stains came from them feeding on us. It was sickening. When we told Leonardo, he shrugged and accused us of bringing the bugs ourselves, which was insulting and absurd. Since then, we've sent the hotel two detailed emails with photos, but haven't received any reply. Their silence has left us feeling we have no choice but to tell others about the room's condition and how they treated us. The hotel claims to be four-star, but we found it filthy, poorly managed, and completely uncaring. Avoid it at all costs.
