La Coppaia, our beautiful two-bedroom apartment at Villa Del Papa, felt like a movie setting. We stayed at the end of April, and the recently remodeled villa was spotless, charming, and rich with history. The grounds were immaculate, with care put into every corner. Traveling with our two-year-old while I was eight months pregnant, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to relax and enjoy the Tuscan countryside. We had privacy and comfort throughout. Daniela, the owner, was warm and gracious, and it was clear how much she cares about preserving the property’s history and beauty. Her husband was just as kind and helpful, and together they made us feel at home. We found the little town charming and the location convenient, about 15-20 minutes from Pisa Airport and 15 minutes from central Lucca. We ate at the Bar pizzeria behind the villa almost every night, and picked up coffee and pastries each morning from the bakery down the street. It was the best family getaway we could imagine, and we’re already planning another stay.

Kind people run this cozy, vintage place, and they make you feel welcome. It’s well equipped and full of charm, whether you want a quiet break while working nearby or a base for exploring the area.

We didn’t have a car and hadn’t realized it was a holiday, so when we found out the bus wasn’t running on its usual schedule, we abandoned our plan to visit the spa about 15 minutes away and started walking to the local caffe. Then our host, sweet Giovanni, pulled up and offered to drive us there and collect us when we were ready. Our hosts were so kind and did everything they could to make our stay nice. The property is beautiful and well kept, the pool was a welcome break, and the tiny town is charming. I’d highly recommend Villa Del Papa, especially if you have a car.

The garden and pool area are lovely, and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. The villa is about 15 minutes by car from both Pisa and Lucca, which worked perfectly for exploring the area. Our studio room was okay. It did feel too expensive, though. Breakfast wasn’t included, there was no room service, and the shower was so tiny I had to watch my elbows.

Daniela and Gianni, thank you for making us feel so welcome and for your hospitality. We had a fantastic stay in Primula Azura, which was spacious, nicely furnished, and just right for our family. The owners are very friendly and have made the place feel like a paradise. We’ll remember the lovely story about how Villa del Papa began. We’ll definitely return, and hope to stay in the big house with the beautiful driveway next time.
