We liked it enough to come back for a second dinner during our short time in Maglie. The seafood platter was among the best we’ve had, and the lobster was a hit too. Great atmosphere, food, and service.

I rarely leave a bad review, but Belami in Maglie was such a letdown that I felt I had to. The food mostly seemed frozen or prepared in advance, and the so-called catch of the day smelled off and looked old. It was left by our table, apparently hoping we’d order one of those fish. We passed and asked for seafood pasta without wine because of dietary requirements. The waiter said only the Chianina ragù could be made without wine since the other pasta dishes were already mixed, unless we wanted one of the fish of the day. With fresh cooking, it seemed like the chef could have made a menu seafood pasta without wine. I don’t understand how the restaurant is mentioned in the Michelin guide.

The service was very professional, and the food and its quality were outstanding. They have fresh fish each day, plus some very good local wines. I especially recommend the Susumaniello from cantine Menhir. Looking forward to coming back soon.

We were stranded in Maglie and this was just the peaceful place we needed. Stop in for lunch. Three cheers for the waiters.
