Hotel Excelsior Bay

Right on the promenade, with Malcesine village about a five-minute stroll along Garda Lake. There's a nice-sized pool and it's dog friendly. Free parking is available if there's a space. If not, parking is one minute from the hotel and costs 10 euro per night. Reception were very helpful and gave us wonderful food recommendations.

My mum became critically ill during our recent 10-day visit and had to be taken by air ambulance to a hospital more than an hour away. My elderly dad was left at the hotel on his own, and the staff took such good care of him. They checked he was alright, arranged transport to and from the hospital, printed insurance documents, and spoke with the hospital and insurance company. They helped in many other ways too, showing real empathy and going above and beyond. Mum spent two weeks in hospital, even though their holiday was only meant to last 10 days. The hotel made a room available for Dad and for me and my partner, who drove down from the UK to support him. Staff kept asking how Mum was and whether Dad or we needed anything. It was everyone, not just office and management staff. They were the kindest people, and my family and I can't thank them enough. The hotel itself is lovely and well positioned, about a three-minute walk from town and its restaurants, while still away from the immediate bustle. Sitting outside at the front, looking over the lake with breakfast or a coffee, was wonderful. The rooms were clean and lovely, the beds comfortable, and the air conditioning much appreciated. Breakfast was always good, with a huge range and some small changes each day.

We made a last-minute decision to visit Malcesine on Lake Garda and were glad we booked the Hotel Excelsior Bay. It sits about a five-minute stroll outside the busy centre, and walking north into town or south to explore brings beautiful views all the way. The lake and Mountain View’s are stunning. The hotel has a simple feel, with good quality accommodation, service, and superb staff, without being pretentious. Don't assume you need to stay in the middle of a busy town. Malcesine is beautiful, and in my opinion the Excelsior Bay offers the best of all options. Well done, team Excelsior, and thank you.

The pool and gym are first class, and the staff have been so friendly and helpful that nothing feels like too much trouble. The hotel is right on the lake, with stunning views. I'd definitely recommend it.
