Hotel Malcesine

The best part was stepping out of the hotel straight onto the waterfront in the town centre. It made this the most beautiful stay of my trip. I booked a single room through an enticing Booking.com deal for the first stop of my two-week trip around Italy, while still finding my feet outside my comfort zone. The hotel is a bit dated, but that's fine for a three-star place, and it gave me everything I needed and more. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked flawlessly for this cold-sleeping Brit, and the shower was good. Breakfast was very good every day. The two women I saw at reception were helpful and understood English well. They also kindly looked after my luggage for a few hours while I went paragliding before my onward bus. I'd recommend this hotel in Malcesine, especially for backpackers who might otherwise end up in a less nice hostel.

The food was the best part. Management could do much better with English-speaking guests. They put a notice in the elevator saying not to stop in the parking lot on Saturday because of a market. They should have said not to park, and should have told guests staying over Saturday. My car was towed, costing me 150 euros and half a day spent finding the police.

We only had lunch at the restaurant, not a hotel stay. The food was delicious, and service was quick and attentive. The terrace right by the lake was a highlight, with a magical view. Thank you! 🙏🏼

The location is incredible, right at the ferry dock. The rooms are small, just as described, but we had no problems with the bed, windows, or bathroom, everything was really nice. Breakfast was good, if not amazing, and we were satisfied. For the price, I'd definitely recommend it.
