Agriturismo Il Fontanile

Il Fontanile’s breakfast deserves a diamond medal. The family serves generous amounts of honest, locally sourced food with such warmth and care that you could skip lunch and dinner. The honey, also served at breakfast, was dreamy, and available to buy. In summer, try their house-brand quinoa, as this is one of the few agricultural businesses in Italy growing it. The rooms are sparkling clean and modern, at a five-star level, and the lawns and grounds are beautifully kept. A spectacular agriturismo in the Maremma area of Tuscany. Grazie Dario for such amazing hospitality.

Breakfast had a lovely spread of local and homemade foods, and the hosts made us feel well cared for. The service and hospitality were excellent. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the quiet, green setting was a lovely place to relax. It’s also well placed for exploring the area, with plenty of outings and activities nearby. A welcoming spot, highly recommended.

Breakfast was a highlight, with local ricotta, jams and honey, bruschetta, cheeses and cured meats, plus homemade cakes, yogurt, juice, coffee, milk, and tea. We spent three nights here over Easter. The agriturismo sits quietly among fields, though dining spots are just a few minutes away by car. Covered parking is close to the rooms, which are across from another building where breakfast is served downstairs. Our clean, tidy room had three beds, including an extra one, along with a TV, table and two chairs, wardrobe, and two bedside tables. There was also a binder of nearby attractions. The fairly spacious bathroom had a bidet and shower, with hand and body soap provided. The owner was welcoming and helpful, and gave us all the information we needed.
