B&B Casa delle Camelie

We had a fantastic stay and discovered a spectacular area full of history, quaint villages, and lovely people. The owners live on site and welcome you themselves. He’s a friendly, distinguished man, and she’s a kind, refined hostess. Mrs. Anna has taken care of every corner and the smallest details, giving the place a very special charm. Mrs. Anisoara looks after you from breakfast until you return in the evening. The owners and residents are around during the day, and it’s easy to chat with everyone. The atmosphere is so friendly, it feels like being at home. If you’re looking for the authentic experience of a real B&B, this is the place.

The bathroom was nice, and the apartment is near the Terme di Saturnia spa. Those are the two good things I can say about the Grotta apartment. It was smaller than the photos suggested. The listing said there was a double bed and a sofa bed for two, but the double bed was actually another sofa bed, with a painfully hard, uncomfortable mattress. The two huge rugs were absolutely dusty, and the dish sponge was black, dirty, and worn out. There was barely any toilet paper and no replacement. The radiators kept switching on and off all night, and the temperature got to around 25-30 degrees Celsius. They kept our documents and didn’t return them until we left. The welcome was terrible. A man in a tracksuit gave us a very cursory tour in barely understandable Italian. Usually there’s at least a bottle of water in the fridge, but we found only a jar of ground coffee. The color TV was an old CRT with a decoder, certainly not the kind you’d find anywhere else.

There were lots of cats around, which I wish we’d known beforehand because both my husband and daughter are allergic. Luckily, they didn’t go into the bedrooms, and I had antihistamines with me. The house is magnificent and carefully detailed, and the owner is elegant and kind. Our room had a TV and mini-fridge.

The breakfasts were abundant and excellent, even with my food intolerances, which usually make eating tricky wherever I go. They brought everything in a charming room with impeccable table settings and classical music playing. Superlative. The owners and staff were very hospitable and attentive to every situation. The beautiful rooms, kindness, and courtesy make this a little corner of paradise. A stay full of pampering and relaxation, highly recommended.
