BHB Hotel

The lobby looks beautiful, and I liked having a jacuzzi in my room, but I’m still not sure what justified paying 200+ a night. Calling this a 4 Star hotel seems generous, it’s 3 Star at best. There’s no restaurant, just a room where breakfast is served, and the breakfast was mediocre: packaged items laid out with some cheese and salami, nothing substantial, and no scrambled or boiled eggs. The advertised amenities were missing. There was no laundry service or gym, and parking wasn’t on-site as pages like Hotels.com described, it was on the street. If there was an event, the street would be closed and we had to park across from the grocery store. The Spa wasn’t running, either, though I’m not sure why. The older gentleman who works there, maybe the manager or owner, seemed not to care that we were staying. After check-in, he only greeted us if we happened to make eye contact, and he didn’t say goodbye at checkout even though he was in the lobby. Nikola and the other staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. They’re the only reason I’m giving two stars. Save your money or choose a real 4-Star hotel with amenities.

We’d arrived without booking, and the manager couldn’t have done more for us. He was fabulous, and his English was very good. Coming from New Zealand, where we drive on the left, driving in Italy had felt novel and a little scary. Our room was stylish and restful, and breakfast was good. We joked that the world map installation didn’t include NZ. By breakfast the next morning, it had been added. That was such a thoughtful touch. Thanks to this manager, this was probably the best hotel experience I’ve had anywhere in the world. BHB are lucky to have him.

The staff were so patient, kind, and helpful. They called around to get us a reservation at Es, answered our questions about the menu, and arranged a car service because there weren’t any taxis in town.

We were on a bike holiday, so being a little outside the old town wasn’t really a problem. The staff were very friendly.
