Il Marchese Mirante

The sea is only a few meters away, and the B&B sits in a really quiet spot. We had a relaxing week there in June with my husband and our 11-year-old son, and the place was well cared for. Luciano was so welcoming and thoughtful about what we needed. Breakfast with his wife Grazia's homemade pasticciotti and lovely coffee was a treat to wake up to. Thanks for everything! 💪😉

The water issue should have been made clear before we arrived. It came from a well and wasn't drinkable, as Luciano eventually confirmed on our third day. By then, he'd already used it to shower and brush his teeth. Nobody told us when we checked in. Had we known, we wouldn't have stayed, especially with my partner seven months pregnant. We were at Marchese Mirante from July 7th to 10th. Our Booking.com reservation had originally been for July 7th to 14th, but it was canceled without explanation, then Luciano reconfirmed it by phone for €550. The host seemed kind at first, but later came across as intrusive and authoritarian. I felt treated like someone staying in his house, not a customer paying for a service. We chose to leave early. I paid €270 in cash for the three nights and half day, but got no receipt and no documents were registered. Then, at 7:00 PM on July 10th, after we'd discussed things and I'd paid, I asked to step out briefly to collect my pregnant partner and our baby from the street. The beach had closed, and they were only five minutes away. We planned to pack and leave the room afterward. Luciano said, "No, you have to leave immediately, the room is already occupied." That wasn't true: the property was empty, and we were still using the room. He left a pregnant woman and a baby waiting outside. It felt spiteful and mean. If you book here, ask whether the water comes from a well. I would also ask to see chemical and bacteriological test results updated every six months, which the review says are required by law, and check for a bathroom sign warning that the water isn't potable, as health and hygiene rules require. I believe a place using undeclared well water shouldn't be hosting guests, especially without basic information and safety measures. I strongly advise against staying here because of the lack of transparency, serious hygiene risks, and the way guests were treated. I don't think it's suitable for families, pregnant women, or people with even minimal health needs.

We were away from the crowds, right beside the lovely seafront. The owners were friendly and helpful, and we'll definitely return. There aren't any shops nearby, though a well-stocked van comes to the campsite every evening. Thanks for the warm welcome!

We clicked with Grazia and Luciano straight away, and the connection felt much closer than the usual guest and B&B manager relationship. They really look after you and do all they can to make you feel at home. The rooms were functional and spotless, with that spectacular sea less than 100 meters away. Breakfast included homemade pasticciotto, and we also had lunches Luciano prepared, paired with a very good barrel-aged Negroamaro. Everything felt top-notch. We'd love to come back!
