Barbara made the stay feel special, she was so warm and welcoming. The rooms are enormous and look out over the piazzas, and everything was clean and comfortable. Breakfast kept us going, and the WiFi worked well. We could walk to plenty of restaurants, bars, and sights from this spot in central Mantova. A real find.

I wouldn't recommend staying here. I booked through Booking.com and selected the pets allowed option, including the extra fee. The owner then told me they only take pets up to 12 kg. I said my dog weighs 11 kg, but the landlady called straight away and started quizzing me about his age, whether he was a puppy, and his breed. She seemed convinced he couldn't weigh only 11 kg. It felt like being stopped at my door by ICE agents in Minneapolis. I told them politely that I don't agree with treating dog owners this way. They should decide whether they accept animals, instead of picking and choosing by weight, breed, or fur color. Guests pay a supplement and are responsible for anything their pet causes. Mantua is a little gem, but these people felt so unfriendly and unwelcoming that they could ruin a vacation.

My room was spotless, huge, and furnished with real taste. At breakfast, I had such a lovely time chatting with Barbara and the other guests, it felt like being with old friends. She welcomed me in the center of Mantua with a smile, kindness, and so much enthusiasm, in a beautiful home that felt comfortable right away. That personal warmth really added something to the stay. Barbara is such a lovely person. We spent about 20 minutes talking over breakfast, and it felt like we'd known each other forever. The place was spotless, with a huge room and so much care given to the details. And the location, right in the center, is fantastic. She made us feel at home, and I'd absolutely recommend her.
