This was the highlight of our first time in the region. We were exploring in the shoulder season, drove straight there, and found it was the only full-service hotel for miles. The hosts and staff were among the best I’ve encountered while traveling. Everyone we met was so warm and welcoming. Our room was clean and adequate, close to the kitchen and prep area, where there was a real family feel. I loved seeing olives being pitted and pasta being made, and being invited to join in. Dinner in the white-tablecloth restaurant was five stars all the way, and I dare you to find a better breakfast buffet anywhere. The place felt more like an upscale, family-run agriturismo, such an unexpected surprise. Even in the last days of October, we could drive two minutes to an amazing beach and swim in warm water. I wanted to take the time to write this because the experience really was remarkable.

We stayed for a few nights. The rooms were fine, clean, and had air conditioning that worked well. On our first evening, we ate at the restaurant. It was tidy and the service was very friendly. The room was so brightly lit that it felt a little less romantic, though at least you could see what you were eating. Both the tuna and swordfish were overcooked and dry, perhaps that’s just the Southern Italian way of preparing them. Breakfast for hotel guests is served as a buffet beside the pool. At first we thought it was a sandwich shop, but you can point to what you want and they put it on your plate. The service was very friendly again. Swimming caps were required in the pool, an old Italian tradition we seem to run into less and less. This year, it was only here and at Borgo La Tana.
