Hotel Residence La Fontana

I booked quickly because it was the only reasonably priced hotel that allowed pets, and I didn't check the reviews first. That was a mistake. The room smelled strongly of cigarettes as soon as we walked in, and the sheets had the same smell. We asked for fresh sheets the following day, which helped a bit, though the smoke smell was still there.

The staff at reception were friendly and precise, even though the desk was like a phone booth. The room, though, smelled of smoke and damp, like a wet dog. There were two views of a provincial road, and the heat and humidity were remarkable. The furnishings were something else: old, battered pieces with cigarette burns on the bedspread, desk, and table, plus ash in the ashtray and hair scattered around the room. Even the toilet paper roll, with just five sheets left, hadn't been replaced. The night was hell, with street noise like an F1 circuit and a party in the neighboring rooms going on until 3 a.m. Their balconies extended through our window. We missed breakfast, too bad. The place would've felt out of date even in the 1980s. And never mind the guy leaning over the balcony with his hand in his butt.

The room was dirty, and finding ants in it wasn't pleasant, even though I appreciate places being pet-friendly. The cigarette smell was nauseating as soon as we walked in, and it clung to the furniture and walls all night. I got some sleep with earplugs, but in the morning I found that the outlets didn't work. Also, be careful with the doorknobs, you might get stuck there forever!

The furnishings were in poor shape, with some broken pieces, and even the mirror was broken. The floors, walls, and curtains were dirty too. There was a strong smell of smoke and musty air as soon as I entered the room. One of the worst places I've ever stayed, a terrible experience. Avoid it. I'm giving one star because that's the lowest rating available.
