La Perla dello Stagnone

We were looking for somewhere peaceful while my husband and son were out kite surfing, but it was hard to rest here. On the first night, ten children in two other apartments were noisy until 5 a.m. We couldn't even have a meal together with our group on the veranda. From 2 p.m. there was another group of kids on scooters outside making a racket, so sleeping during the day was impossible too. The building is well maintained, but the apartment wasn't suitable for three adults. The room with the bunk bed didn't feel like a real bedroom: its small hopper window wouldn't open, and it seemed more like a closet than a space for a 20-year-old. The balcony was tiny, maybe 2 square meters, and not usable by the three of us. There were only two breakfast cups and three glasses, some mismatched. No coat hangers or toilet paper were provided, which has never happened to me before despite traveling a lot. There was no drinking water either, though the owner sent a bottle when we asked on our first night. The air conditioning didn't feel sufficient for the whole building, and there were far too many stairs. The pretty garden was barely usable because of pigeon droppings. I nearly got hit on the head more than once. This was our fourth year at the Stagnone, and we'd never seen so little attention paid to it.

The lagoon view is lovely, and the garden and terrace are pleasant places to sit. The house is right by the water, with a great location, and the landlords were friendly.

We had the whole large garden to ourselves for the week, which was lovely. There are tables, hammocks, a barbecue, and a little outbuilding with a washing machine, beach umbrellas, and lounge chairs. Parking is right in front of the house or down by the water. The location is fantastic. Every window looked out over the lagoon, with sun in the morning and evening, and our kitesurfing school, Kite me up, was less than a 5-minute walk away. It was so relaxing. Inside, the furnishings are practical. Warmer light over the dining table and by the beds, plus a few sofa cushions, would make it feel cozier. The scooter gang mentioned in other reviews is real, but during our stay they were only around on Fridays and Saturdays. With the windows shut we couldn't hear them, and it never bothered us. I was absolutely thrilled with the place.
