B&B Padre Pio

The breakfast was generous, and the rooms and bathrooms were spotless. Mr. Giuseppe and Mrs. Anna are lovely, attentive hosts who help with whatever their guests need. It felt a little like being at home. This place has stayed in our hearts, and we'll definitely return.

We know Sicily's eastern coast fairly well and wanted a base that made train travel easy. B&B Padre Pio is ideally placed for that, with Mascali train station nearby and equipped beaches offering magnificent views of Mount Etna. Regular trains on the Syracuse-Messina line make it simple to explore Eastern Sicily, and the B&B is about equally far from Catania and Taormina. The town center is just a short walk away, with restaurants, shops, a pharmacy and other everyday amenities. Still, those location perks are small beside the welcome we received. Communication while booking was smooth, the rooms were clean, the terrace was beautiful, and our hosts showed real kindness and care. That warmth and service feel like a treasure of Sicilian hospitality, the kind you find at an established place like B&B Padre Pio. I wouldn't recommend this place for families with children. It seems suited only to couples without kids. The two owners are elderly, and their cleaning was only done their way on the first day. After that, you have to manage yourself. For a family of four, they provided only three towels and changed them every three days. Breakfast wasn't brought unless we asked for it. I was told at booking there was parking, but that wasn't true. You have to park on the street, which isn't very well lit. If you have a new car, I wouldn't recommend it. In the evening, you'll be hoping it's still intact by morning. A disappointing experience.

We've stayed at the Padre e Pio B&B on each of our last two trips to Sicily. It's a modest, welcoming place, and I'd recommend it to anyone who isn't expecting anything fancy.
