Borgo Barone

Luigi was friendly and very helpful, and the grass and trees around the place were nice. Still, we left disappointed, especially given the high price. Perhaps we caught it at the end of the season, but the rooms and outdoor furniture had a lot of dust and spiderwebs. Several things needed repair: the bathroom door had swollen from water after the shower flooded and wouldn’t shut, the shower knob kept falling off, and the pool furniture and robot were broken. The pools and jacuzzi were too dirty for us to use, with green walls and dirt on the bottom. There were dirty cats around constantly. In the small house, the shower’s hot water only lasted for one person. The coating on the frying pans was coming off, so we didn’t consider them safe to use.

Marco was a very pleasant host, and the apartment was lovely and newly renovated. It’s a quiet spot with a great sea view, and on clear days you can see Mt Etna from the car park. It’s a bit out of the way if convenience is what you want, but we felt the peace was worth it.

The pool was clean and a welcome way to cool down after a hot day. We stayed for five days, and the place worked well as a base for day trips to Etna from both the north and south, Catania, Taormina, and Alcantara. The rooms were spotless and had everything we needed. Marco and Luigi took care of any problems, and Luigi gave us good tips for the area. Thanks for the hospitality, we’ll definitely come back.

Luigi was so helpful and welcoming. The rooms were fabulous and clean. Thank you for your hospitality!
