Hotel Marnie

The whole team was so nice, and the rooms were clean, with towels and everything else we needed, plus air conditioning. Service was excellent and the price unbeatable. We were given such a warm welcome. The owner was incredibly friendly and flexible, and even helped us out when we needed it. A huge thank you for that! We'd love to return. The hotel is less than a 10-minute drive from Viareggio and the sea, and it was quieter than similar places closer to the beaches. Our rooms faced a main road, but there wasn't much traffic at night. With the air conditioning on, we could keep the windows closed and sleep without noise. We stopped at Hotel Marnie for one night while road-tripping across Italy with our two children. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning had them nice and cool. They don't serve breakfast, but there's a nice bar nearby. Fiorella, the owner and the only person we dealt with, was almost disarmingly kind and helpful. The price was excellent for the service. A completely positive stay, and we'd definitely repeat it if we were back in the area.

The welcome was warm, and there was a free bottle of water, a pod coffee machine and a shared fridge for guests. The bathroom worked fine. But I used to think the earlier complaints about street noise were over the top. After staying here, I can confirm them. There's no air conditioning, just a basic ceiling fan, and it doesn't do much to help in the heat.

I booked at the last minute for that same evening, during the August bank holiday weekend, when it was the only hotel available within about a dozen kilometers. My single room was clean and comfortable, and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. There was no air conditioning, but I was lucky not to need it. It's a small, simple, clean hotel in a 1950s style. Free parking is under the building. I'd recommend it, as long as you remember it's a one-star place and don't expect five-star amenities.
