This place is amazing. It’s a former mill turned into a complex with a hotel, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, restaurants, bars, conference rooms, and plenty of shared space. The staff were so kind and supportive, they made us feel like the most important guests ever. They cleaned daily and did it professionally. Each day, they refilled still and sparkling water, coffee, and tea free of charge. There’s a large parking area included in the price, and the cuisine was good, with top marks for the Chef. We really believe this is the best place to stay in Matera.

The building and pool are amazing, and the staff made me feel very welcome. Everyone was kind and helpful. It’s about a 15-minute walk from Matera’s center, though I do think the price could be a little lower.

We picked Alvino Relais Contemporaneo mainly for the pool, hoping to unwind there during our trip. We couldn’t use it on either arrival day or departure day because of private events. They told us two days ahead about the first closure, but only let us know the morning we left that the pool would also be closed for a wedding that had already been scheduled. We feel pool access should be available until checkout on departure day, or guests should be told clearly in advance if it won’t be. When we raised the issue, the staff member initially seemed to have little understanding and argued that we could have used the pool twice. It came across as dismissive. Management did apologize before we left, but the experience still left a bitter aftertaste, and we can’t recommend the property, especially for anyone booking it to use the pool. The property itself has been renovated beautifully, and our room was clean, bright, and comfortable. Breakfast was decent but short on variety. One morning, though, the mozzarella tasted spoiled. After an otherwise wonderful trip through Italy, this was a disappointing way to end it.

The hotel looks really nice, but we never even got to stay there. We’d booked that day, mainly because we wanted to use the pool, and only found out it was closed when we asked. There was no notice of the closure anywhere. The staff booked us at another hotel straight away, without giving us much time to think. It was well below par for both quality and amenities. Being sent there made us feel more like a nuisance for asking about the pool than welcome guests. We didn’t feel welcome at all.

I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels, and this is one of the best. The place is spacious and nicely designed, with a big, lovely pool and lots of sunbeds. The staff were super nice, too. It had everything to make the stay memorable! 🙂↔️😍♥️
