My wife and I stayed four nights at the end of August 21, after booking through an online portal three weeks ahead. The place is decent and roughly on par with others in the region and country, though it doesn't meet broader global standards. The staff were friendly for the rest of our stay, and most seemed to be doing their best, but that didn't make up for the check-in or the other problems. For the price, the overall experience fell short of what we'd expect from a basic four-star hotel. We travel a lot and have stayed in everything from no-star places to five-star hotels around the world. At check-in we didn't get the prepaid room category we had confirmed: a junior suite. Instead, we were given a lower category, a deluxe room for disabled people right above the noisy bar. The woman apparently in charge said the booking portals had overbooked that category and told us to contact our portal for a refund. We had a confirmed reservation and voucher for a junior suite. Even if the portal story was true, handling it that way was poor customer service, highly unprofessional, and made us feel they didn't care. There was no compensation for downgrading our prepaid accommodation, which felt like a breach of contract. The quiet hillside location in Meran, free on-site parking, decent food, and what seemed to be a recent renovation were positives. But the room was very basic for a four-star hotel, more like a two-star one. It didn't even have paper and pen, tourism or regional information, or towel hangers and hooks in the bathroom. Wifi was consistently poor throughout the stay. The mattresses sagged below the bed frame and gave us back pain, despite my weighing 72 kg and my wife 50 kg. Covid safety measures were inconsistent and not enforced.

The balcony was a nice touch, and I suspect the swimming pool is what lifts this place to four stars. Otherwise, it felt more like a three-star hotel to me. The pillow and mattress weren't comfortable.

They gave us a double room even though we'd asked for twin beds, and couldn't meet our dietary requirements. Some staff were rude and kept talking about us to other guests. It was awful, they ruined Christmas for us.

The rooms are roomy, though there aren't enough power outlets, and breakfast wasn't anything special. The staff were friendly. The location also isn't very convenient if you want to visit the city center.
