Hotel Westend

Hotel Villa Westend is a charming, authentic, romantic and luxurious place, especially for anyone wanting a more romantic stay than in a conventional modern hotel. The host and hostess were friendly and did their best to make our stay pleasant. We brought our dog, who was well taken care of, and it's a dog-friendly hotel. For a traditional, delicious dinner, you don't have to go far, just eat at the hotel. The menu changes every day, and it's close to your room if you want to try the local alcoholic drinks.

We had half board, and both breakfast and the 5 course dinner were very good. The owner was friendly, and the staff were helpful with local knowledge, tips, and sightseeing suggestions. Our room was clean, and we appreciated being able to open the balcony doors and windows, even in winter. Ask for a room overlooking the river for winter sunshine. The location is perfect, just a gentle stroll along the river to the heart of Merano.

The breakfast was good, and waiter Mirko was efficient and pleasant. The building interior and rooms could use a renovation. They're very old, the furniture is worn out, and the bathrooms are old and worked poorly. The floors creak, and our daughter's bed was a fold-up camper's bed.

A romantic hotel for couples, and they take good care of you if you book a stay here. It's an authentic, old-school place for the kind of classic romantic experience you usually read about in books and see in movies.
