The room was nice and had a balcony. The water seemed unreliable: the toilet hadn't been flushed when we arrived, and it didn't work on the first night.

My room came with a balcony overlooking the lake. The rooms were lovely and clean, and the building was quiet. A nice spot for an evening passagarta.

Absolutely fantastic!

Martina gave me a really kind welcome, and everything was perfect. The finishes are all new, and the room had everything, from the bathroom to the bedroom, which shares a wall with a kitchen that has a closet. Entry is through a small door or automatic gate, with parking available.

The best part of B&B Arenaria is how much you can reach from there, and the lake view is lovely. The property faces Lago Grande, with restaurants, trattorias, a focacceria, and a rotisserie nearby. Behind the B&B, a little road on the left leads to a quiet rocky stretch of shore where fishermen dock. Nearby, bus 32 goes toward Punta Faro, past Lago Grande and Lago Piccolo. You can also get there by car, bike, or on foot if you fancy a pleasant walk. Punta Faro is well served, with public and private sandy beaches and a view where the Tyrrhenian and Ionian seas meet. For getting into Messina, walk left for 5-7 minutes, turn by the corner pizzeria onto Via 18B, then right onto Via Francesco Denaro. That brings you to the Strada Consolare Poppea. Going left takes you toward central Messina. The pharmacy and the bus stop opposite the gas station are less than 50 meters away. Shuttle 1 from that stop heads downtown to the train station. On the way, you can get off at Mu.Me Museo di Messina to see works by Caravaggio and Antonello da Messina, along with local and regional crafts. The city center also has churches and monuments. Messina friends recommended Bar Torino for granita and Rosticceria F.lli Famulari for arancini, and the theater is nearby. A bit farther along, toward Annunziata, there's a small church, a little square, and the "Cicli Nord" shop, where bikes are sold and rented at a good price. Near the gas station you'll also find Pasticceria Vinci, said to be the best in the area, with excellent fresh Sicilian cannoli. Next door, the Irish Pub has plenty of snacks, including some made with the local cheese tuma. The owner of B&B Arenaria kindly picked me up near the train station at Piazza della Repubblica, where he'd left my Flexibus, and where the ATM terminal is. I arrived in Ganzirri (ME) on Tuesday, July 14th. The drive to the B&B is about 25 minutes, depending on traffic. You can avoid some traffic by leaving the Poppea Consular Road at a certain point and taking the Strada Panoramica dello Stretto up the hill. Near the end of the descent, the streets are lined with colorful oleanders, then Lago Grande comes into view in all its splendor. The one-way road on the right along the lake soon brings you to the B&B. Like most nearby businesses, it overlooks the lake. If you're there in August, DON'T MISS the Vara di Messina, a large votive float for the Madonna Assunta, carried in procession every August 15th. The events leading up to the Feast of the Assumption are Messina's biggest expression of religious devotion, even though the city's patron saint is the Madonna della Lettera, whose liturgical feast is June 3rd. B&B Arenaria won't disappoint if you appreciate the owner's courtesy, a good location, parking on site, reasonable rates, and cleanliness. There are only a few recently renovated rooms with bathrooms, and it's a peaceful place. Good food and wonderful views are close by too. I left a piece of my heart in Ganzirri!
