Messina Break

I've come back to this B&B and found things improved. The furnishings are lovely, it's very clean, and the breakfast is good. The kindness is something special, and the prices are fair and economical, so you save a lot.

I paid very little compared with other hotels, and had a lovely stay. My room was air-conditioned, very clean, and had its own bathroom. Breakfast wasn't included, but they still offered me coffee and croissants. I took photos of the beautiful Strait view from my room. The place is near the station and shuttle buses. No worries, you can go there.

We arrived after the Marco Mengoni concert, my family and I with a group of friends. I'm easygoing and usually adapt to things, but this was beyond what I could put up with. A young man, the owner's son, welcomed us into the apartment. I found myself wondering whether he knew how to talk to guests and what he was supposed to be doing. The building was dark and smelled bad. The furnishings were rundown and basic, and the lack of cleanliness stood out before I'd even looked at the beds, sheets, or bathroom. In our room, the sheets weren't clean, the bathroom and shower were filthy, and there were toiletries left behind. There was an unpleasant smell in the rooms, on the sheets and tablecloths, and all around. It felt like a dump, not a B&B. Then a strangely dressed man with a bandage on his leg came into the hallway carrying a bag and went into the kitchen. He took a glass, got tap water, drank, and put the glass with the clean dishes. After closing the door, he rambled at me and said I should trust the young man who had welcomed us, adding that he lived upstairs. I was shocked. The kitchen was filthy too, and the man took me out to a veranda in a small courtyard where the garbage bins were overflowing and filthy. It was a horrible night. The pillows and sheets stank, and we showered without touching anything. Luckily, I had tablecloths in my suitcase to use, because the ones provided may have been washed, maybe. I woke up with severe allergies and burning eyes. I don't think two days of antihistamines will be enough. And the refrigerator in the room made me vomit from the stench when I opened it to put in a bottle of water. I'll stop there, though I could say more. I wonder how places like this are still open, especially when the negative reviews go back to 2019. The NAS should inspect places like this strictly and close them immediately.

Everything was perfect, with exceptional cleanliness and great availability. I'm always happy to come back.
