The house is a little old, but we loved having fresh oranges in the morning and squeezing our own juice. There are lots of great restaurants nearby, too. From the west-facing terrace, the views across the village and sea are wonderful. Getting there takes a bit of effort: you have to walk about 400 metres up to the house, and a regular-sized car can’t fit along the streets. The owner’s mother met us and carried our luggage in her small car, which just squeezed through the narrow lanes.

We loved staying here. Francesca was so considerate and took care of everything, which made things easy for us. The house has a pool and two lovely rooms, one on the ground floor and another up the stairs from the living room. The upper room has a nice view, and the kitchen has everything you need to cook and eat. The home is on a hill, so hauling lots of luggage up on foot can be tough. Francesca’s mom picked us up and helped get our bags up. You’ll need a really small car to drive into this area; otherwise, park before starting up the hill, and Francesca will guide you. Bus stops are a 7-15 minute walk, and the station is about 21 minutes away on foot. We walked to the station almost three days in a row. If you come to Italy, be ready to walk! Highly recommend staying here. Good luck to Francesca on her special day.

The owner’s behaviour was disgraceful, and the property didn’t match what was advertised. It was old and tired, the supermarket was not 500 metres away, the parking felt dangerous, and dogs barked all night. We lost hundreds of Euros on this booking. After 40 years of travelling in Italy, this is quite frankly the worst place I’ve ever had the misfortune to visit. The day before we arrived, I contacted the owner to ask for check-in details and heard nothing. On the day, she finally got in touch at 2 p.m. to ask when we’d arrive. We said 6-7 p.m.; she said she was busy and wanted us to meet her at the property at 10:30 p.m. We said no. She then told us the house was 400 metres up a steep hill off a busy main road, with narrow lanes a normal car couldn’t manage. None of that had been explained in the information we received, and our car was full of luggage. If we’d known, we wouldn’t have booked. The owner offered, without us asking, to carry our bags up in a micro car that could fit through the lanes. She left the keys in the door and said she’d return later with the luggage. At 7:50 p.m. we texted to ask when she’d be back, since we couldn’t carry the bags up the steep hill ourselves. She said she was delayed. At 8:30 p.m., she said she was back and asked when we wanted our luggage. We said right away, since we had none of our clothes, passports, or anything else. At 9:05 p.m. we texted again, asking to sort it out because it was late and we’d had a long day. She replied, “not right now.” When we asked why, she said, “we are having our dinner.” Unbelievable. Then she told us to walk down the hill in the dark, along an unlit route, to meet her at our car. Although parking was advertised as street parking, the car was on a bend in an unlit country road with very fast traffic. At 10 p.m. she sent her boyfriend to collect the luggage. After that, things got dreadful. We were told by text this wasn’t a five-star hotel and that the luggage was our responsibility. But no one had told us about the steep hill, and the owner herself had offered to take the bags. It’s clearly a problem for guests, and probably why the very difficult access isn’t mentioned. The owner’s boyfriend eventually arrived at 10 p.m. Then the owner launched into an aggressive, uncontrollable rant over the phone. She said the luggage wasn’t her responsibility, despite offering to take it up. When we said we hadn’t known the house was on a steep hill, she shouted that it was our fault for not looking at a map. Several times she screamed at us to get out and leave. We stayed level-headed and polite, tried to calm things down, and explained it was after 10 p.m., but she wouldn’t listen. Her boyfriend eventually took the bags, and we agreed to stay that night because it was late and we couldn’t find anywhere else. Later, the owner texted twice to apologize for her behaviour. In the morning, we said we’d thought about what she’d said and no longer felt welcome or comfortable staying. We actually felt unsafe and threatened in such a dark, isolated place, so we wanted to take her up on the offer to leave. We said we’d pay for the first night but wanted a refund for the next two. She refused and said we had canceled the booking. We pointed out that she’d screamed at us to leave, but she said she didn’t want to answer, and that was the end of it. We left. My advice to anyone reading this: don’t stay here under any circumstances.

A fantastic place. The host and family were incredibly helpful and friendly. We’d highly recommend staying here, and we’ll definitely come back.

A great place to stay, with a pool and a really friendly host family. There’s a huge outdoor area, and it makes an ideal base for exploring the region.
