Hotel Residence Kennedy

The hotel is dated, but it works very well for a relaxing weekend, with the sea just steps away. The staff are friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful holiday in Basilicata, with its history, nature and, above all, crystal-clear sea. Hotel Kennedy is in a great spot and has everything needed for a pleasant stay. Everyone on staff was kind, helpful and professional, and we'd gladly return. The food will stay with us too. Chef Emanuele and his team were charming and talented, and treated us to some exquisite dishes. It would be hard to pick the best, but one local dish deserves a mention: pasta alla poverella, a long pasta course with fried breadcrumbs and other ingredients that make a really unique sauce. There was also fried fish and plenty of other delicacies to try at this family-friendly place.

The room wasn't in good shape cleanliness-wise: there was a lot of dust under the beds, the bedspreads were visibly dirty, and when we first came in there was a strong musty smell. That's a shame, because the welcome was warm, the beach was only a few meters away, and breakfast was both plentiful and delicious.

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this situation really shocked me. I called three times about a one-day stay and was quoted both full board and half board, with a €20 per person difference. We chose half board. On the final call I repeated the prices 10 times, and luckily I was on speakerphone when I booked, so other people heard them too. Since I booked the day before, I relied on the phone and didn't think to confirm the prices by email. At checkout, though, we were given a different price for the stay. On arrival day we ordered a croissant and coffee and asked for them to be added to our room. They charged us €16 for two croissants and two coffees. After seeing our faces, and having already changed the price we'd agreed on, the lady seemed to realize they'd gone too far taking advantage of guests. She then said, "Okay, it doesn't matter, I'll offer the croissants and coffee". After all, she'd already made money by raising the agreed price. The facility is far from the sea, wasn't very clean, and the breakfast was very poor.
