I was in Milano for my birthday, on my first visit and first stay at this accommodation, which operates as student housing during the semester. Unfortunately, I arrived feeling unwell after travelling nonstop from Lyon since 8 pm the night before. I was very grateful to be allowed to check in early. The staff were nice, so my first impression was good, but the heat in my loft room was awful. I came in the first week of August, and it was unbearably hot. The corridor was 20 degrees cooler, and I even thought about sleeping out there, though I didn't. There was no air conditioning, and calling reception on my first day brought maintenance staff to inspect the room, but nothing changed. The room didn't cool down at all during my three-night stay, even with the window closed. Because of that, I wouldn't stay here again. The room and bathroom themselves were great. There was no kitchen equipment such as utensils, but that wasn't a big deal if you're not planning to cook. The location is great, with Fondazione Prada just a 10-minute walk away, lots of places to eat within walking distance, and supermarkets close by. I got here from Milano Centrale by taxi and used a taxi app to get back to the station. I didn't figure out public transport, but I'm sure you can get here that way for much less.

My friends were with me the whole time I was trapped in the elevator, but nobody from the Aparto team came to stay with us. With barely any internet in there, I messaged reception and was told maintenance had been called and was on the way. They took two hours to arrive, even though Milan isn't that big and it wasn't rush hour. At first I rang the emergency bell and nobody at reception noticed. Students downstairs heard it and raised the alarm. My friends later said Samuele from reception took several minutes to stop and check because he was playing with people tossing balls around, and even joked that I might be stuck for 24 hours. Once I got out, I went to the desk, but Samuele had left. The night staff were checking in new hosts and told me to talk to the manager in the morning. The next day they said all they could do was complain to the company. Apparently this had happened before, with someone stuck for an hour, and the previous night was their new record. About Samuele leaving, they said whether he stayed was his choice, so in an emergency they stay only as long as they're paid. Dear tourists, be careful. Update: I spoke to management afterward, and they took my concerns seriously. The manager said they had put a better procedure in place for situations like this. Martina handled my case directly, and I believe this issue has been addressed and these incidents will be much less likely in future.

My first year at university was the most unpleasant year I've had living there. The staff are okay, but the way the place is run is awful. It feels like an institution, which it really is. They'll fine you for just about anything, and you don't feel you have any privacy. You can't refuse cleaning, and if you try, they email to warn you there could be consequences. I don't recommend it. I'm in a good apartment now, and honestly, it's worth the hassle. Find somewhere else; you'll be better off.

What stayed with me most was the mix of culture, color, location, and that warm Milan weather in May. My stay was lovely, and it's fascinating that a place like Aparto even exists. Walking through its two grand doors, the first word that came to mind was "Mirella," a word for that imperfectly perfect feeling. Students seem to drift up and down the stairs to the laundry room, leave their clothes, and somehow find them washed the next day. Quite an art, really. For your next stop in Milan, definitely check out Aparto in Ripamonti, Milan. All love, peace out.

Paolo and Antonella were the best, always going out of their way to help with whatever I needed. Everyone on the team was friendly and caring, and staying at Aparto really felt like being at home. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
