The best part for us was how easy it was to get around. Hotel 22 Marzo is near Linate, and we arrived quickly after our flight. It's also a short walk to public transport, nearby sights, bars and places to eat, so my wife and I rarely needed a taxi or Uber, even during the winter Olympic games. The Olympics facilities were farther away than I'd have liked, though. We chose it because we wanted somewhere affordable and liked walking around a big city. It's a small, boutique-style hotel, and our first impression was that it had very few amenities. No restaurant or pool, for instance, but there's plenty of food and drink nearby. The rooms are small but cozy, clean and nice. We were close to a busy street, yet the noise didn't keep us from sleeping well. The staff helped us find our way and spoke English, which was handy since I know almost no Italian. We also enjoyed the complimentary coffee and water in the shared space on each floor, where there are chairs to sit in. The freshly ground coffee tasted great, especially late at night. It's not a deluxe hotel, but it's comfortable and clean, and worked well for a walkable stay.

A tram stop just two minutes away made getting around easy, and I had a very good stay. The rooms were warm, clean and comfortable, and the cleanliness was excellent. I'd suggest requesting a room at the back because it's quieter than one at the front. I visited in the off-peak period, so it was especially peaceful and pleasant.

We found the location especially useful, with everything seeming close by, and the staff helped make it a good stay. During the Olympic high season, when prices everywhere had gone crazy, this hotel was a real relief. Hotel 22 Marzo was normal, fresh, well-equipped and clean, without the odd layouts you can get in Milan's repurposed office buildings. I had read noise complaints, and the walls may be a little thin, but it wasn't anything wild. They also had an endless supply of hot chocolate, which was a nice bonus.

I stayed for six nights and had an amazing experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location made it easy to get to the city center. There are good food options nearby too. I'd definitely stay here again next time I'm in Milan.

The room was squeaky clean and looked better than many four-star places I've stayed in, though for a two-star hotel I was disappointed by the service. There wasn't a drop of shower gel, soap or shampoo. I went out to ask for replacements, then came back that evening and found they'd cleaned the room but still hadn't refilled the bottles. I had to go semi-wet across to the other part of the building in the cold at 9pm to ask for shower gel and soap. That's the main reason for my one-star service rating. The beds weren't to my taste, but the location was about a 20-minute walk to the Duomo, almost in a straight line. There's an excellent Argentinian restaurant opposite, with amazing food and very cheap alcohol. If I'm remembering right, a shot of vodka was 3 euros.
