Cà Bèla - Porta Romana

The location was a real plus. It’s fairly close to the Duomo, with plenty of restaurants and a grocery store on the same block. There are several locked doors, so the place felt safe. The shared living room and kitchen were kept up well, and the TV had YouTube and Netflix if you logged in with your own account. I used it to block out the noise for a bit. But the noise was what got to me. Neighbors talked and laughed until around 2am, and the walls let it all through. The tracks were loud each time a train passed, too. The shower had hardly any light, and its badly designed floor let water leak into the room. The A/C kept switching itself off. That was fine while we were out, but at night the room got too warm. Room 1 was tiny for two people with luggage. There was nowhere to put our things, and moving around meant squeezing past the bed. The shower and toilet were on opposite sides. Messages through WhatsApp were fine, but nobody answered our questions. There was a mini fridge in the shared kitchen, though it was far too small for five rooms. I also didn't want to leave food there where strangers could get to it. I could've put up with all of that, but the noise through the walls all night drove me nuts.

It was an acceptable stay, though the room was small and the bathroom had hardly any counter space. The shower was poorly designed, so water drained badly and spilled into our room a bit. The thermostat kept resetting the A/C to 25C with its energy-saving setting, and I woke up too warm several times.

We stayed at the apartment on Viale Certosa, and Emanuela was fantastic. She looked after us so well. The room was clean and ready for us. Highly recommend!

The owner was really kind, and we could help ourselves to free coffee from the shared machine and some biscuits. The room was clean and nicely decorated, though very minimal. There was no fridge in the room, just a shared one in the common living room. The room was also small, with the toilet behind the bed, so privacy was a bit awkward. The metro is close, and there’s a bakery, cafe, and supermarket nearby. I was torn between three and four stars, but gave four because we had a very good time in Milano overall. The tram shook the whole building whenever it went past, which was the most annoying part. We also heard noise from the bar across the road.
