Capital Suites Porta Romana

Thanks Fabio & Bianca! I really enjoyed staying here. The place is run by a welcoming little family who were accommodating, appreciative, and ready to help with anything. It’s a historic building, so you can picture generations of families going up and down those stairs. We’re used to a lot of comforts these days, but that didn’t take away from my stay. Getting around Milan was easy from here. Porta Romana station is a six minute walk, with the metro connecting to the rest of the city. Trams and buses were frequent and fairly punctual in my experience. The view was decent, and there’s a nice little balcony. A few things to know: it’s a stretch to call it a hotel, and you have to climb five big flights of stairs, so don’t book if that’s a problem. The bathroom is small and has low clearance for anyone over 5', though it’s well equipped. There’s no shower screen, so water collects on the bathroom floor after a shower.

The host was friendly and everything else was good. The difficult bit was carrying things up to the flat on the 5th floor, since there’s no elevator.

The apartment gets top marks from me in every respect. The hosts were excellent and very accommodating. Recommended.
