Breakfast was set out in the kitchen, and the bathroom had everything we needed. The room was clean, with fresh, tasteful furnishings, and the welcome was lovely. The owners were especially kind when I mentioned my gluten intolerance, bringing out several snacks for me. The apartment is in the lovely, handy Porta Romana area, and the price felt fair for the quality. Highly recommend!
I picked the Porta Romana Luxury Room because it was close to my university, and stayed for 3 days. Roberto was easy to reach and helped with everything, including letting us leave our bags in the house after checkout so we could collect them with a quick call. Check-in was fast, the place was very clean, and the price was affordable. The Duomo is a 15-minute walk away, or much quicker by metro, with the station just a block away. We had a great stay and would happily come back.
We booked 5 nights, but at check-in the owner told us we had to leave on Saturday night because he had booked the whole place for a group. He said he would move us somewhere else. We hadn't been warned beforehand, despite what he may claim in a reply. We objected, but had no choice and had to leave. Finding another place at short notice cost much more, and the refund for the nights we didn't use didn't make up for the loss. It felt like the owner had overbooked to make more money. Be aware of the risk if you're considering booking here. The keys are another concern. All the room keys are the same, so other guests could get into your room if they wanted. We were told on check-in that we'd have to leave on Saturday and go elsewhere, then come back. There were no messages about this on Expedia or my phone, just messages confirming the booking. We didn't agree, but had to book another place at a higher price. The owner was after more profit. Be aware of the risks before booking. All the room keys are the same, which means other guests have access to your room if they want.
The walls are thin, so it doesn't feel very private, though the place works well for a short stay. It's right in the center and easy to reach by metro or tram. The owners are helpful and friendly, and there's a kitchenette, plenty of fridge space, and a quick breakfast. Everything's been renovated and furnished beautifully.
We had a luxurious apartment and a wonderful welcome from the owner. It's close to the metro and city center. Highly recommended.
