Duo Milan Porta Nuova, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The breakfast restaurant staff were excellent, energetic, and pleasant. Most of the concierge staff were fairly friendly too, though some were unhelpful and indifferent. Since this was our last hotel after stays in other cities, the difference in concierge service was especially obvious. We had a suite triple room with plenty of space, which was useful for our family and really the main plus. The hotel is also close to the train station. But the room only looked polished at first glance. Up close it felt dated, almost like a motel. The sink smelled bad, some tiles were grimy, and the building didn’t seem properly maintained or cleaned. The pillows and bedding fell short as well. I’m not sure why it’s considered a 4-star hotel; to us, it felt pretty mediocre, with few positives beyond the room size and station location.

Coming back to the room after exploring the city was a pleasure. It was bright, comfortable, and beautifully designed. Duo Milan Porta Nuova has a stylish, welcoming feel, with a modern Milanese charm that made me feel at ease. The staff were warm and attentive, and it felt like they cared about the details. The location is quiet enough to relax while still being well connected to everything. A fantastic choice if you want comfort, personality, and a touch of contemporary Milanese elegance.

Everything felt solidly average, with nothing that really stood out. The rooms are nice, but the AC was set to 21degree and lowering it didn’t make the room any cooler. The tea selection was limited, with nothing caffeine-free, and the coffee was just Nescafé, in Italy! The shower faucet was missing a cover, and water from the regular faucet kept cutting out. Breakfast wasn’t worth the price, especially with anything containing egg costing another 7+€. All in all, it was OK, but hotels in the same area offer better service at comparable prices.

Before our visit we decided to extend our stay, and the staff helped us keep the same room instead of checking out and back in. They also handled a special request for us, which made the stay feel more personal. Karina deserves a special thank you: she stayed in touch and looked after us throughout, with exceptional service. The room was spotless and fresh, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. Everything seemed well maintained, and the hotel isn’t too far from the station. We had an amazing stay at Duo Milan Porta Nuova Hotel, one of the best hotels we’ve visited in Italy. We’d definitely return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Milan.
