HI Ostello Milano

The room was clean and we slept well, and the guys at the front desk were amazing. They did their best to accommodate our requests, and the price was reasonable. I'm a little surprised by how many bad reviews this place gets, but keep in mind it's a hostel, not a hotel, so set your expectations accordingly. If you want something fancier, you'll need a proper hotel, and it'll cost more.

The front desk staff were very kind and helpful, and the building itself is nice. The parking was good too, at 15 euros for the whole day, with locks available for a 10 Euro deposit. But the cleaning and management are a disaster, and the stay was very disappointing. This hostel has potential and is part of the HI network, which is usually great, but it didn't live up to that. It's near San Siro, though the area around it feels dirty and neglected. I was in Room 26. The lockers were disgusting, full of old food, crumbs, trash, and even used razors. The bathroom was just as bad. The place felt neglected when it came to cleaning. They advertise free Wi-Fi, but it didn't work at all. They said it was a capacity issue, and I ended up paying for an external connection. Clean sheets were provided, but the old blankets on the bed clearly don't get washed. I needed them because there was no heating, or they hadn't turned it on. I slept fully clothed with my jacket on to stay warm. I'd read reports about bedbugs and didn't see any, but the general filth kept me uneasy. At night the lighting was terrible. The dark corridors from reception felt like a dangerous alley, and groups often hung around in the dark by the entrance, which felt unsafe. Better lighting outside and professional cleaning would make a big difference. The place isn't cheap enough to justify these conditions. Pay a bit more and stay elsewhere.

The room was unbearable, so I booked another hostel the next day, even though I'm a broke college student. I've stayed in over 20 hostels, and this was the worst one. You'd be better off booking somewhere else. When I arrived, the place was genuinely disgusting. There was trash around, a hairball on one bed, and the pillows and sheets were stained yellow. My bed was already half broken and completely gave way when I tried lying down. I'm 21 and weigh 130 pounds. There was no toilet paper, the toilets were broken, you had to pay for a shower towel, and there were no hand towels. It was super loud all night and into the morning.

The only good thing about this hostel is how easy it is to leave, since it's near the metro station. I can't describe how horrible the place was. It's a scam, the worst hostel of my life. Do not book here!
