Hotel America

The price is why I gave this five stars. This is a budget one star hotel in an expensive city, so keep your expectations in check. My room was number 10, with a balcony. It was quiet, the big foam bed was comfortable, the linens were clean, the bedroom door and lock felt very secure, and there were several power outlets. The hotel has air conditioning, steam heat, an elevator, a tiny TV, and Wi-Fi that was slow at 3-5 Mbps but usable. Some drinks can be bought in the lobby. In the morning they put out coffee and snacks, and there seemed to be staff on site around the clock. There are only two bathrooms and one shower, shared by the ten rooms. No in-room safe, fridge, kettle, or bottled water. The shower has a hair dryer and shower gel. The trolley to and from Duomo is literally 50 feet from the entrance, and there are lots of restaurants and coffee shops a short walk away. After paying through Booking.com, I was surprised by what I think was a 3.50 Euro tax charge on arrival, though that may be normal. For the value, I think it deserves a good review. Of course, it won't compare with a 300-dollar-a-night room in the area.

The tram gets you to the Duomo church in about ten minutes, and the location is great. My room had an amazing balcony view. It's a nice, clean place, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The washrooms were really clean too. I'd definitely recommend staying here. Thanks, Anjela! Aruna

We had a confirmed room booked through Booking.com, but when we called the Hotel at 5 pm on check-in day to ask about parking, they told us our reservation had been cancelled. They claimed they'd called twice, though I never received a call, message, or email about it. As soon as Booking.com got involved, calls, emails, and app messages from the Hotel started arriving within minutes, then they went quiet again. The people we spoke with were dismissive and put the blame on us. One man called in an angry tone and hung up when I asked a couple of questions. Booking.com eventually helped us find another room. It seemed clear the Hotel was overbooked and cancelled our stay without much thought. Even then, they could have been polite and offered a solution. The whole experience was awful, and I wouldn't recommend them because they're so unreliable.

We'd definitely stay here again. Our host Angela was awesome, a very nice and helpful lady. The room was spacious and very clean, with a really good shower. The hotel is close to Linate airport and the city center, with Metro and Tram stops right outside. Thanks, Angela. Highly recommended.
