Dear Hotel Pavone, Your reply gives incorrect information. We booked one day before arrival, and the medical emergency happened only a few hours later. We contacted Expedia straight away, and they spoke to the hotel. The hotel told Expedia that cancellation could be made if we sent documentation from the hospital. We followed those instructions and sent the documents immediately. Once the hotel received them, it changed its position and refused the cancellation. The hotel also later cancelled the booking in its system without our consent or a refund. This review describes what actually happened. We have documents confirming our communication with Expedia and the hospital.

The beds were comfortable, and the electric roller shutters kept the summer light out. There were extra blankets too, which I appreciated since I’m still getting used to sleeping with just a sheet. The room was cleaned each day, though they didn’t replace the soaps and other items. The bathroom was the main letdown. It was so tight that the sink got in the way when using the toilet, and even standing at an angle was necessary to pee. There wasn’t room to bend in the shower either. The rest of the room had a work table, a reasonably roomy wardrobe, a safe, and a TV with local channels, but no streaming services. For the price in this area, I think it was worth it. Still, when I think of a hotel, I want a home away from home, with things like decent room size and amenities. I also found it strange that you can’t leave the hotel using your room key. And I always resent being charged room tax separately, why isn’t it included in the price?

The staff were kind and helpful, and they let me leave my luggage there when I got in before check-in. Everything was clean and well looked after, including the very small bathroom and especially tiny shower. The bed was comfortable, though the rooms feel a bit dated, as you’d expect for a 3-star place. The location was the best part, right in the center, close to everything, and the area felt safe at night. For a budget stay in a central spot, it worked well. It’s not fancy, but it does the job.

The hotel was very clean, but the staff really impressed me. I was only there for two days and hadn’t unpacked, so I’d thrown half my things on the floor. I went out for three hours and came back to find the whole room and bathroom tidied, with my clothes folded too. I couldn’t have asked for more.
