Hotel Tirreno

The rooms are basic, but very clean and well maintained. We arrived late on Friday night after booking, and the owner was so accommodating and kind. She went out of her way to help, offering us free water at check-in, a hairdryer for my girlfriend, and a phone charger for me. I’d recommend the place and would return.

For the price, the place is fair enough. But the hotel staff should be able to communicate in English, since most of the hotel’s customers are tourists.

There are "no smoking" signs all over the hotel, yet the workers smoke right at reception, so the whole place reeks of cigarettes. The hospital nearby means ambulance sirens woke me up six times a night. Prostitutes are everywhere outside, and there are sketchy drug addicts at the park across the street. I’d try the "3 star hotels" on either side first. They cost the same and give you much more. I’d recommend sleeping on the streets before staying at this "hotel". Hotel Tirenno was the worst accommodation experience I’ve ever had at a hotel or hostel. As for the staff, the manager is an angry Italian man who doesn’t welcome anyone from outside the grungy town of milan Italy. Ask him a simple question, like directions, and he’ll keep calling you "stupid in the head". He has no respect for clients and will violently knock on your door at any hour, day or night, when it suits him. Bring your own toilet paper too. The one bathroom shared by the whole building runs out quickly, and sometimes it isn’t refilled for days.

The staff were very kind, and the price was good for the value. It’s very close to Milano centrale by bus 81, about 15 minutes.
