The problems started at check-in, which was exceptionally rude. Then, in the morning, a maintenance worker entered one of our three rooms without knocking or announcing himself. He could have waited until we checked out an hour later. When we asked him to leave, he said he’d wait in the hallway because it was a “communal area.” We hadn’t paid to stay in a hostel, and the situation felt intimidating and hostile. After checkout, the hotel emailed us saying, “while we always respect your privacy, the rental of rooms does not constitute exclusive possession of the entire premises.” That felt disingenuous, especially since we had paid for all three rooms in the property.

I was there in July and came away with a very pleasant impression. The staff were polite, friendly, and ready to help whenever needed. My room was spacious and cozy, with a nice view from the window. It’s about a 15-minute walk from the city center. Comfortable, really great, and well deserving of a high rating.

Everything else was good, including the location and rooms. The problem is that if your window faces the street, you can hear trams and cars all night.

The noise is the whole problem. The bed, decor, bathroom, and location were all fine, but there’s basically no sound insulation in a room facing the road. You hear every ambulance at 2 or 3am, people talking on their phones as they pass, and car horns as if they’re right there in the room. I booked for two nights but left after one because I couldn’t sleep. If you get a room at the front, stay away. Check with reception first and make sure you’re not put in one.
