The deposit assessment felt opaque, and I wouldn’t recommend renting through this company. A wooden slat inside the backrest of the sofa cracked by accident while we were unfolding the bed. I told the landlord about it roughly a week before checkout and said I was willing to pay for a repair. I expected the damaged part to cost at most €300, and during checkout the inspector said one broken slat could be fixed without replacing the sofa. About three weeks after we left, the landlord wrote that €1,464 would be charged for a whole new sofa. They later agreed to bring the charge down to €850 after I challenged it, but didn’t show receipts, invoices or other proof for either repair or replacement. I felt this was unfair and the way the damage was assessed wasn’t transparent. I hadn’t taken good photos at the time because I didn’t expect a dispute. The attached image shows the white sofa and the damaged backrest, and I have pictures showing the sofa was otherwise in good condition and the damage was limited to that one slat. I tried to look up reasonable repair prices from companies in Milan, but language barriers and the limited availability of businesses over Christmas and New Year made that difficult.
