Hotel Molise 2

The room was extremely basic, with a rock-hard bed and no kettle. The safe was broken, the bathroom door kept sliding open, and the AC wouldn't turn on. When I asked at reception, I was told Milan doesn't allow AC before June. A Milanese friend said the city had turned it on on April 15th, so that explanation seemed untrue. They told me to open the windows, but there were no screens and bugs came in. The area also felt a bit ghetto, and I didn't feel safe. I can't believe two nights cost me $525. I know it was Design Week, but it wasn't worth that price.

The room was clean and had what we needed, though it was pretty bare-bones. I didn't mind the very firm mattress, but the pillows felt cheap and could use an upgrade. We could easily hear TVs and conversations from other rooms, and the neighborhood felt fine during the day but a little sketchy at night. We were there during the Olympics and paid way more than the place was worth. At $70 Euro a night, it would've been enough.

We spent a long time outside the locked hotel door waiting to get in. We knocked repeatedly and called before the receptionists finally woke up and let us in. The area also felt very problematic, with dangerous people who rob tourists on public transport lines 91 and 90. Breakfast was a disappointment too. There was very little choice, and the food wasn't replenished, so unless you arrived right at 7 am when the kitchen opened, plates were often empty. They had a few croissants and small cakes, and the eggs were often literally raw even if you waited for them. The hotel itself was clean enough, and it was close to a bus stop, but we could hear every noise from the neighborhood because it isn't soundproofed. Those problems spoiled the stay. A terrible experience, and I can't recommend it.

Good service and WiFi, with cleaning every day. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space. Buses and trams are close by, and it's about a 45-minute walk to Duomo and the city center. Great value for the price, highly recommend.
