Piccolo Hotel

The air conditioning was the biggest problem. It was extremely loud and kept dripping water, and reception's advice was to put towels on the floor. That ended up flooding. The bathroom drain was slow too, so showers weren't pleasant. The room was uncomfortable and we didn't sleep well. The toilet was tiny, leaving almost no room to use the bidet or move around. Noise from the area came through even with the windows shut, and mosquitoes made the night worse. Breakfast was very basic with no real choices, and the staff didn't make us feel welcome. In the morning an older man, possibly the owner, just said “sorry” and promised a better room next time, without seeming concerned about our experience. The stay was terrible. We wouldn't return or recommend it.

It's a tiny hotel, right near the centre of Milan, and the location is really convenient. It's always crowded and definitely noisy. The people are kind and polite, and the quality for the price is very favorable. Parking is practically impossible, and breakfast costs extra.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the Wi-Fi worked really well. The hotel itself is practical if you mainly need somewhere to sleep while exploring Milan. It's worn and outdated, with little sign of maintenance or attention to detail. The decor feels like the 1980s, which gives it a bit of charm. Rooms are noisy and don't block sound well.

The staff were fantastic, and for the money the hotel was great. It was much better than I expected from the reviews, and entirely okay. People booking a budget place shouldn't expect the Four Seasons. A dimmer light by the bedside and a second plastic cup for couples might improve things. The nearby bar can be noisy at night, but closing the window takes care of it. If you're looking for a cheaper hotel, there's no reason to hesitate.
