Sweet Inn - Porta Volta

China Town is easy to reach from here, though the main sights are a bit farther out. The tram stop is very close, and I thought it was good value. There's a historic feel, with beam ceilings and antique furniture around reception. Breakfast was excellent, and staff kept clearing tables and everything in order. We arrived about an hour before the 3:00 pm check-in. They didn't seem very busy, and I had the impression our room might be ready, but they wouldn't let us check in early. We had to wait and come back right at check-in time. Nice hotel, though a friendlier reception would have helped.

The neighborhood has restaurants and green spaces nearby, and it's right on the edge of Chinatown, which was fun to walk around. The tram stop is just outside, and the main sights aren't far on foot either. This family-run hotel dates back to the early 1900s and has held onto its charm while keeping its facilities up to date. Our room was clean and well stocked, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast offered lots of choices and changed from day to day. I'd recommend it to anyone staying in Milan.

Getting to the main sights was easy on foot, and there are several tram and metro options too. The nearby train station made it simple to get to MXP. The front desk man was really friendly, and breakfast was great, especially the tasty coffee. My room was clean and had character. It felt like a perfectly Italian room, which added to the Milan visit, rather than one of those bland modern hotel rooms. All in all, it had what I needed to feel at home away from home.

The staff were sweet and helpful, and as a solo traveler I felt very safe. The room was clean and decent, though I was hoping for a nicer view. My window looked out at the back of the building, so I didn't open it. The location worked well, about a 15-20 minute metro ride from the main attractions. It was a good stay, but the price felt a bit high for what it was.
