Tivoli Milano President Hotel

Gilda was so kind in the breakfast room, almost like a mum keeping an eye on everyone, and her apology helped when the food ran out before 9:45 a.m. on our first morning. The breakfast itself was decent. Our room was cosy, nicely decorated, and had a spacious bathroom. We arrived late at the end of our 12-day trip with lots of luggage, and Zahier and another person helped carry it and showed me where to park. I really appreciated that. At checkout, though, they wouldn't accept Discovery Dollars, even though I'd mentioned them at check-in and was told I could use them. Parking was also too expensive.

Breakfast was the best part for me, with plenty of fresh, tasty choices and everything laid out well. Gilda made the mornings especially nice. She was so sweet and welcoming, always smiling and looking after people. You don't come across staff like her often. The whole hotel felt clean, comfortable, and well kept, and the atmosphere was relaxed from the minute I arrived. I had a wonderful stay and would happily come back. The service at breakfast, especially Gilda's, made it memorable, and I'd recommend the hotel.

Our one night was short, but the friendly attention from the staff made it feel special. Chiara and Matteo were especially thoughtful, and we felt like valued guests rather than just people passing through. The description of Tivoli President Milano as close to the Duomo, with 239 renovated rooms and suites, contemporary style, and city views felt spot on. From the moment we entered the lobby, the place felt warm and charming. We woke to the energy of the city, with the Doumo in view, and the nearby Duomo made it easy to explore Milan. I left smiling and expect I'll stay at Tivoli President Milano again next time.

The hotel itself was great, and housekeeping kept everything very clean. The man who checked us out was genuinely helpful and friendly. But the service elsewhere needs work. My husband called six times before we arrived to confirm the booking and ask about a car, and was hung up on or transferred to head office. When I asked reception for a taxi to the central train station, nobody explained they were ordering a car instead. We were charged 80 Euro for 2.5km. They should tell guests they can't book a taxi and let us choose. We used Uber after that, which was easy and affordable. I also found the photo rule at reception strange. I only wanted a picture of myself checking in, not the staff, and the way the rule was explained sounded accusatory. Maybe there was a language barrier. The woman who arranged the car smiled at me, then looked annoyed as soon as I turned away. Please wait until a guest has left before making a face. Maybe things are in transition between the current and new owners, but staff need more training. I'm used to better service, even at four-star hotels around Europe.
